The story of Poet's Corner

overcast 70 °F

Poet's corner (the hostel in Olomouc) has a very interesting story. The Aussie couple who run it actually met in Prague while backpacking and after falling in love they decided to move to Olomouc and open a hostel! They had to leave everything in Australia and learn Czech.

The hostel as I mentioned is beautiful and very homey. On our first full day here we headed to the main square and joined in a free walking tour done by one of the hostel owners Francie. It was very informative and took us around the town while explaining its history past and present. She also suggested we visit one of the museums during our visit. We then got some lunch at a traditional Czech restaurant which was fairly inexpensive. The food was pretty good but I still say Hungarian food was better.

After a nice lunch we headed back to the hostel to rest for a bit. We had been going at the tourist thing pretty hard so far and Olomouc was a place for a bit of rest. We took our first nap of this entire trip and then got up and did some cooking since the kitchen at this hostel was nice and we had bought some groceries earlier. We needed to get some supplies since this hostel didn't offer a free breakfast.

After a nice dinner of paprika pork and salad we headed out to a local microbrewery with our friend Mel and an Aussie guy named Joshua we met earlier. The beer was quite good and the atmosphere was nice with live music. We got back pretty early since most everything closes pretty early in Olomouc.
